Aged 27
Born in Mildenhall on 23rd June 1916 [Mildenhall 4a:1827], the son of John and Phoebe Elizabeth AVES (née MILLER) of
Fullers Yard, Kingsway, Mildenhall (1911). He married Ruby Jane DEAN in Q3-1939.
In the 1939 register he was a milk roundsman, at Warren Lodge Cottage, Old Station Road, Newmarket with his wife Ruby Jane [4-9-1911]. His father John [17-10-1883] a bricklayer) and mother Phoebe [17-10-1886] were at The Bungalow, Holywell Road, Mildenhall with his grandfather Richard MILLER [1858] a retired labourer. His was Column 8, one unit of the Chindits on Operation Longcloth which started behind enemy lines in Burma in February 1943. It is believed that he was captured on 10th July 1943 and died of beri-beri in Rangoon Jail.
